Answer:

Sri lanka reacted through a civil war

Sri Lanka composed of 74% sinhala speakers and 18% tamil speakers.

Tamil natives were called Sri Lankan tamils

In 1956, an act was passed to recognizer sinhala as the only official language thus disregarding tamil.

All the govt measures of preferential policies that favoured sinhala applicants for university positions and government jobs, gradually increased the feeling of alienation among Sri Lankan tamils.

As a result, Sri Lankan tamils launched parties and struggles for the recognition of Tamil as official language and as their demand was repeatedly denied, by 1980s several political organisation were formed demanding an independent tamil eelam.

It soon turned to civil war and thousand of people of both communities were killed. Many were forced to leave the country..... This ended in 2009
