during 1860s when the  civil war broke in America ,it could not supply any cotton goods to britain . Because of thisBritain began to import cotton textiles from India .so the price and demand of cotton textiles rose. As a result  Indian weavers had no raw materials. They had to purchase it at higher prices.Therefore in this situation their occupation (weaving) alone cann't feed them .Now they had to look for another source of their income.....
