How did the American preacher Jonathan Edwards's preaching style compare with the British preacher George Whitefield's?
Answers
Both Jonathan Edwards and George Whitefield preached in a style that appealed to the hearts and the emotions of their worshiper.
They used bright imagery; Edwards famously compared the souls of men to spiders hanging from a thread over a pit of fire and a pathos-laden delivery to drive house a more or less shared message: that people had turned their backs on God in the chase of sophisticated things.

George Whitefield preach wherever possible. He was called a "Divine Dramatist" that attracts crowd wherever he went. He possessed dramatical and rhetorical skills, and he spoke with great power. He had a loud, clear voice that could be heard by so many people. However, Jonathan Edwards was a complete opposite of Whitefield. He was known as a boring manuscript reader. That is the reason why he is ignored by many. It is said that he is heavily dependent on his manuscript that prevents any rapport to his congregation. He was one of the most mediocre the church had ever known. He had none of the eloquence or the powerful voice of Whitefield.
