Answer: The ant had antennae to sense smell. With the help of the smell, it came to know that the other ants were not from its group. The guard ant recognised this ant by its smell.

Hope this helps!

Answer:

(i) Ants have antennae which they use to smell, touch, feel and communicate with other ants. With the help of these special senses the ant came to know that the other ants were not from its group.

(ii) The guard ant recognised this ant by its smell. Drop some sugar, jaggery or anything sweet on the ground.
