Archaeologists studied all the bones of animals, birds and aquatic animals such as fishes to know about the eating habits of the population.

Although there were plant remains which survived as part of the earth surface, yet if seeds, grains or pieces of wood were burnt, they would have survived in a roasted or completely charred form.

So when studies found out charred seeds, researchers also came to know that they ate plants as well.
