How did the author feel towards 'stored stuff at Mrs.Dorling's house? Why did she feel so?

The narrator felt that her mother had only lent them for safe custody and Mrs Dorling was not to keep everything. On seeing these objects, memories of her former lifewere aroused. She found no room forthese precious belongings in her present life.
