The baker attracted the children in many ways:
- He used his bamboo staff to make a musical noise whenever he came to the house. Children would hear the jingle and know about his arrival.
- The aroma of the freshly baked items would reach the children and they would eagerly wait to peep into his basket.
- The baker would also attract the children with his warm and loving behaviour, and let them pick out bread-bangles. He was also their friend.
