Blacks of South Africa fought against the apartheid on the leadership of Nelson Mandela.Various movements started including bans and boycotts of goods belonging to whites.The protest also included massive civil disobedience and the explosion of music and art demanding the end of apartheid. Thousands of average South Africans risked their lives to resist the brutal system and The African national council was formed which included many new leaders and some whites who were sensitive at heart

The African National Congress (ANC) was the umbrella organisationwhich led the struggle against the policies of segregation. This included many workers’ union and the Communist Party. Many sensitive whites also joined the ANC to oppose apartheid and played a leading role in this struggle. Several countries also denounced apartheid as unjust and racist.
