Answer:
Since ancient times, adivasi communities traded in forest products such as hides, horns, silk cocoons, ivory, bamboo, spices, fibres, bones, gum, resins, etc. [2] However, with the coming of the British the forest trade was completely regulated by the government. [3] European trading firm got the sole right to trade in forest products. The British policy had adverse effects on the forest people. Grazing and hunting by local people were restricted. [4] In the process, many pastoralists and nomadic communities like Korava, Karacha etc. lost their livelihoods. [5] Some of these tribes were branded as criminal tribes and were forced to work instead, in factories, mines or plantations under government supervision.
