How did the British conquer India and established their rules?​

British did not capture India within a week or year. First, they entered India only for trading purposes. Many of the British officials asked for the permission for trading, but it was accepted after the request of Sir Thomos Roe by Emperor Jahangir. Then, they captured Calcutta which is the old capital of India and even for Britishers. It is used for imports and exports. After that, they captured Bombay and Madras. Slowly, they inserted the policy of Imperialism in India. After Aurangzeb, there is in effective ruler in India. They implement the policy of tax collection and troubled us. In the mid of 18th century, India was under the control of British.

The British had come to India as traders. However, their ambition kept growing and so started the fortification of the port cities. After establishing its monopoly in Indian trade after removing all competing European traders, the English aimed for imperialism.
