Swadeshi movement is one of the major successful independence movement in pre-Gandhi period. The main reason for this movement is partition of Bengal into East Bengal and West Bengal by the then Viceroy of India Lord Curzon in 1905.

Swadeshi meaning self. The nature of this movement is to boycott British goods. Thus damaging the British economically. It not only impacted British economically, also improved Indian economy (partially) as the Indians preferred to buy Indian products instead of British goods as part of the Movement.
