Buddhism and Jainism are two ancient Indian religions that developed in Magadha and continue to thrive in the modern times. Mahavira and Gautama Buddha are generally accepted as contemporaries. Jainism and Buddhism share many features, terminology and ethical principles, but emphasize them differently
