The Lost Child by Mulk Raj Anand is a story about a boy who is lost in fair when he is engrossed in roundabout swings. The parents of the child lose him and the affection and bond of love are shared in this story.

While in the fair the child requests his parents for the things he wanted, however, his parents refused with excuses. The child was fascinated by the roundabout, flowers, and dragonflies and while he is lost in the wonders of nature he is lagged behind and loses his parents. The distraction in the child reflects that the child enjoyed in the laps of nature.

The child looks at everything he sees with great wonder as everything was new and fascinating for him.

He is astonished by the huge mustard fields filled with yellow flowers looked like painted with yellow colour. Then he saw a beautiful colourful butterfly that was flying hither and thither and he wanted to catch it.

Then when his parents rested under the banyan tree, he started picking up the leaves and petals.

He was thoroughly engrossed with nature and enjoyed every bit of it, the flowers, petals, fields, and the butterflies.
