The other children were narrow-minded and possessed small town mentality. They behaved arrogantly with Wanda and made her feel inferior. They taunted and teased for her name and her dress and made her feel embarrassed. They used her as a source of amusement and daily waited for her to make fun of her. They thought of her as different and would trouble her anytime. Wanda was deeply hurt by the way children behaved towards her, and her family later had to leave town because of this.
