Colonial forest rule affected the traditional cultivation in the following ways:-
i)Colonial forest rules enclosed the forest areas. Local people who were dependent on forest for collection of firewood, for grazing their cattles and for other requirements have been banned.
ii) This caused wide spread anger among the people living near the forest as they felt that their traditional rights have been taken away from them.
iii) This made many people jobless and for whom it was difficult to find jobs until mid 19th century.
iv)All these things gradually changed the pattern of traditional cultivation in India.
