The Britisher extended their control over all natural resources ( especially forest ) and declared that they were state property.
Also some forest were classified as reserved forests for they produced timber which the Britisher wanted so they didn't allowed the tribal people to move freely in these forest they also banned the practise of jhum cultivation(shifting cultivation), collecting fruits and hunting animals
