In the beginning when cricket originated in England it was just a street game and people used to play with a bat which is u shaped and looked similar to that that of a hockey stick. Later as time passed changes came in the material used for cricket bat and shape of bat. People started to bowl high and to meet it hey made a bar which looked straight that is our present day bar which we use. Bats are made of wood .
