Efficient agricultural practices, including understanding the Nile River's flooding patterns, changed Egyptian work life, by making the workforce available for other endeavors.

Before the Egyptians would toil full day to produce food and resources required to feed the population which was increasing rapidly. But because the Nile River flooding left the mud fertile, the farmers took advantage of this, to increase production, and reduced the time spent. The Egyptians could now use the extra time available, and the workforce for politics, religious, and scientific purposes.
