The doctor had an inflated opinion regarding himself, admiring his looks and profession. The doctor lost his pride when he was already in the grip of a frightful snake. Being a doctor, he realized that he didn't have any medicine in the room for snake bites when there was a distinct possibility that the snake would bite him. He felt helpless and frightened. The vanity and he pride he had moments ago had vanished. He smiled feebly at his stupidity and ill - luck. His thoughts change from being a proud doctor, to accepting his stupidity.

Answer: here u go mate!

Explanation:But a short encounter with a snake, a full-blooded cobra, cured him of his pride. When the snake reached his shoulder and coiled itself around his arm, the doctor lost all arrogance and was reminded of the existence of God. Face to face with death, he realised what a weak and foolish man he was.
