On reaching the sight of the hare the eagle immediately flew towards the hare, like how a predator catches a prey. She hung the hare from her talons in mid air. The beetle pleaded the eagle to spare her beloved friend. The eagle than proudly mentioned her protection granted by Lord Zeus. She said to the beetle, "Here, keep your friend's head" as she tore the hare's head off and took his bleeding torso to her nest
