Usually, the egyptians covered the deceased head to toe in oil and rolled a strip around them (called a mummy) and buried it in a preservable grave. In this way, the body will not decompose for thousands of years.
For kings, most of them were entombed in The Pyramids of Giza, in boxes inside boxes inside boxes! The box would be made of different materials like gold, silver etc...
