hi mate
here's your answer
European rule resulted in segregation for black people, and the division of the country with separate land being reserved for blacks and whites, which led to apartheid, a harsh system of racial segregation.
a) formal "civil rights" existed in South Africa prior to European colonization and b) that all white people are "Europeans." Most of South Africa has been governing itself since at least 1872 when the Cape Colony received responsible government (albeit with a white-dominated electorate), and arguably from its very founding in 1652, because the Cape Town burghers always had a form of representation for themselves.

Between the 1870s and 1900, Africa faced European imperialist aggression, diplomatic pressures, military invasions, and eventual conquest and colonization. At the same time, African societies put up various forms of resistance against the attempt to colonize their countries and impose foreign domination.
