World war-1 and 2 convinced humanity to outlaw war and we created the United Nations to help us find ways to alvert to stop them. Although far from perfect it's the closest we have come to achieving that goal. Provety is being reduced at record rates, we live longer and various diseases have been eradicated. We are deeply flamed species but if you look past the noise of current events we are getting better.
