World war 1 and 2 convinced humanity to outlaw war and we created the United Nations to help us find ways to avert or stop them. Although far from perfect it's the closest we have come to achieving that goal. Poverty is being reduced at record rates, we live longer and various diseases have been eradicated. We are a deeply flawed species but if you look past the noise of current events we are getting better.
