By 19th century, poets and artists discovered a new way of depicting a nation. When an abstract idea is depicted through a person or a thing it is called as an Allegory. An allegory has two meanings ; literary and symbolic. By 19th century, poets began personifying nation by women. This allegory was not a real women at all. For e.g. , Marianne for France, Germania for Germany, Britania for Britain, etc.
