The french sought to strengthened their rule in Vietnam through control of education.  They tried their best to make the french people to have a strong superiority of french civilization and the inferiority of Vietnamese by trying to change their values, norms and perceptions of the people.

Although the academic scholars feared that Vietnam was losing not only the territory of his people but also it's  identity at large for instance their values and norms which they have kept for a very long time were now being devalued and people catching the new system of master slave mentality.

The french formed a new curriculum which they highlighted the importance and the need of french rule, but the Vietnamese students and teachers did not agree immediately with the new curriculum in fact they brought silent resistance to the new french curriculum,.  As the teachers number mostly in the lower education increased they quietly modified the text and criticized what was stated.

Most of the school front seats were usually preserved for the french but the locals resisted when they got a chance to do so, The entire school later protested to this when Vietnamese girl was terminated over the issue of front seat this brought the authorities to take the girl back in to the school and this became a victory to the educated class.
