Mesopotamia that is placed in the modern-day Iraq, is considered as the birthplace of civilization.

Although the region initially, was widely occupied by humans in the yearly years of 12,000 B.C.E., many historians are of the view that large civilizations had began in Mesopotamia sometime between 4,000 and 3,000 B.C.E.

Mesopotamia's development during this period was encouraged by a series of geographical factors, such as rivers and fertile lands.
