The grandmother did not become sentimental at the time of parting from her grandson. This nature of the grandmother reflects on her strong character. When the narrator used to live with her she gave her best to give him the best upbringing. At the time when he was to leave her and go to get his higher education, the grandmother took this in a much positive way. She very well knew that the narrator would get a better education in the city as compared to that of the village. Although she was said for them being parted she made her busy in other things.
