The narrator had expected his grandmother to be upset on his plans for going abroad however, it doesn’t happen the same way as he expected.
She was not a sentimental lady to be worried about his leaving to aboard. The narrator was kissed by her on the forehead with good bye, she was consistently praying and telling the beads of her rosary, but her behavior was not in the way the narrator had expected.
This displayed that she was a strong person in her approach. Also, she understand that she would be around when he return back. Therefore, she need not be upset. This not only creates a transcendent aura about her but also projected her as a strong-willed person who could also anticipate future.
