the idea of nationalism was positive at first. the people of respective states were full of nationalistic feeling. later this created pride in oneself and hatred towards other nations. this leads to aggressive nationalism or negative feeling towards nation. therefore the result was desire for war.

The rise of nationalism and nation states played an important role in the unification of politically fragmented regions but equally it was a cause for World Wars as well. With the passage of time nationalism became aggressive which created a pride among the people of a country and simultaneously hatred towards another country. A nation in Europe used to believe that they alone are right and they could win any conflict with their military might.

Any insult to a nation was not tolerated and every country used to believe to overpower the other. An overpowered country was busy in thinking of revenge. We see,the ulta-nationalism in France and Germany created by Mussolini and Hitler was the main cause of World War II. So in short, we can say that the idea of nation-states and nationalism influence desire of war during World Wars.
