How did the intruder prepare himself to take up the identity of gerrard?

He started to ask questions about the Gerard life to know him better, he was quite similar to the intruder in looks. If was preparing himself to look like Gerard, talk like him, meet people that Gerard used to meet and for that he was asking questions to him.

1. The intruder decided to impersonate Gerard because they were both of the same build and height.
2. He then asked Gerard a few questions to know more about him. Then the intruder threatened to kill Gerrard if he did not stop acting smart.
3. He was also preparing himself to look and dress like Gerrard apart from meeting the people Gerrard used to.
4. In order to prepare himself to take up the identity of Gerrard the intruder forced him to talk about himself.
5. He kept a watch on Gerrard for three months. He became familiar with the way he walked and talked.
