The ironmaster was a person who always took care of quality.
When he was inspecting a major house at night he noticed the presence of a man near the furnace.
He realized he must be an old acquaintance belonging to the regiment.
So he called him "Nils Olof" and also invited the man for Christmas Eve celebrations in his house.
The peddler declined the invitation. Maybe he was not feeling safe to come home.
