The ziggurat is a temple which was built  to honor the main god of the city. a ziggurat tradition  was started by the Sumerians, but other civilizations also follow the Ziggurat. . The Mesopotamians  have a strong believe that Ziggurat connects heaven and earth. Ziggurats can be  found on today Iraq and Iran,  ziggurats of Mesopotamia is  one of the great Ziggurat . The ziggurat was always built with mud brick. No one has a certain idea when and why ziggurats were built .They are similar to the  temple so they were probably connected with religion.
