It was created when Zakariya Khan Bahadur negotiated a peace proposal with Sikhs by providing them jagir. The title Nawab was given to the leader. Kapur Singh was the leader of Sikhs and took the Nawab title. He combined the Sikh soldiers into 2 groups; Taruna Dal and Budda Dal collectively known as Dal Khalsa.
