The knowledge Gulliver had in Mathematics assisted him immensely in Laputa. Because of his knowledge of Mathematics he was able to understand their phraseology. The ideas of laputians were perpetually conversant in lines and figures. For example if they wanted to praise beauty of a woman, they would describe it by rhombs, circles and other geometric terms.
