- Second, he delivered one of the sapphires in his eyes to a poor writer who was feeling cold and hungry.
- Third, he gave the other sapphire to a matchgirl whose matches had fallen in a gutter and she needed money.
- Next, slowly he distributed all the remaining gold leaves on the prince's dress among the needy people in the city.
