The narrator, Kenneth Anderson, was passing through the fields near Mysore when they saw wild pigs being driven away from the field.

When the pigs were shot at, some of them died while others fled.

During that time, a sloth bear appeared there and was shot upon by one of the narrator's friend. Soon they found out that a baby bear was also there that was riding her mother's back, that lay dead.

As the young cub was terrified to see her dead mother, it started running into the fields. The narrator chased and caught hold of it.

He presented it to his wife who named her Bruno. This question is from the story, "The Bond of Love."
