The non cooperation movement spread to the country side because in Awadh peasants under the leadership of Baba Ram Chandra revolted against talukdars and the landlord who demanded very high rent and different taxes from them.

Non Cooperation Movement in villages and countryside started with the revolution of peasants . Peasants were forced to do begar and they were not offered any money and after entire day hardwork they were just given twice a day meal, peasants did not had the right to property they have to leave their homes often, hence all the Peasants community revolted. Baba Ramchandra and Jawahar lal Nehru set up Oudh Kisan Sabha to hear the grievences of the Kisan. Although later this movement turned violent the houses of talukdars and merchants were attacked, bazaars were looted and grain hoards were taken over
