In 1803 the british gained centre of delhi after defeating marathas ,and delay became capital of british India.The british who lived here learned urdu and prepared in local events.They wanted to effect the Magical past attached with delay.Mosque were also destroyed or put to other use No worship was allowed in James Masjid for 5 yes.The british lived in the sprawling civil lines away from Indians.Later the british constructed a new city ,known as New Delhi , South of old delhi.
