• In 1295, Marco Polo brought the idea of woodblock printing to Italy.

• The europeans were already familiar with books and printings.(not woodblock printing).

• During those times, education was not common. It was only limited to the richer category who needs to show their prestigiousness to the society.

• The richer category was familier with the books before woodblock printing by calligraphy method.

• Eventhough the woodblock printing is common to all society, the ricjer category used vellum.

•but the common people, who were educated, accepted woodblock printing.
