There are different phases of the freedom movement.
1)1857 sepoy mutiny
Main participants were peasants, soldiers and masses, in this movement Bahadurshah The last mughal Emperor declared as king. This movement was suppressed.
2)Non cooperation & Khilafat movement
Main participants were Educated Indians , Congress and Muslims. This movement was called off by Gandhi after it took a voilent turn.
3)Quit India Movement
This movement carried out with "Do or Die" slogan. It was a massive movement includes everyone except Raja's of princely states.
Independence declaration and accession of princely states to India.
