How did the Pharaoh's curse prove ominous?

The Pharaoh's curse did not do prove much ominous. As the crew was about to begin Tut's mummy's scanning, The million-dollar scanner had quit because of sand in a cooler fan. However, the scanner worked quite well with the substitute fans; and the scanning was completed. It was in a lighter mood that a guard hinted at the Pharaoh's curse when the scanner was being repaired
