How did the pilot on the other aeroplane assure the narrator? plz give me answer now plz. The chapter from ‘The Black Aeroplane ’.

The narrator followed the pilot of another aeroplane like an obedient child as the narrator flew the aeroplane past by the black stormy cloud and as a result the radio in the plane was broken, had no compass and he himself did not know where he was.
