Answer:

There are several reasons from our election system that doesn’t allow for a majority of one party alone to international powers but the main reason i think is power hungry nature of most politicians in Nepal.

Just take the example of UML after CA election in 2008. After Prachanda resigned in 2009, Madhav Kumar Nepal, a senior UML leader becomes PM with Nepali Congress support, then we see members of his own party constantly trying to undermine him, he had to resign, and after 7 months of his resignation, another UML leader Jhala nath Khanal becomes PM for few months with Maoist support. Poor Ram Chandra Paudel who just recently lost in the election, tried to be PM and fought for 17 times in parliament with no success.

Even today, what’s the main sticking point in this Communist alliance??. It’s whether Prachanda will be allowed to be PM for remaining 2.5 years or not?? We had constant reports about UML trying to partner with a Madhesi party so that KP Oli becomes PM for 5 full years, or Nepali Congress offering Prachanda 5 full years of Premiership, in return for breaking this Communist alliance. Expect more such friction, even after the new “stable” Communist Govt is formed, old habits die hard.. We can easily see Madhav Nepal or Jhala nath Khanal, ex PM’s trying to underming KP Oli or Bamdev Gautam trying a different way to be PM (he lost in the election).

So, it’s extreme power hungry nature (Satta ko lob) of our politicians that’s the driving factor behind political instability in Nepal, among other reasons.
