The tribal chiefs lost their former importance. Before the arrival of the British, they enjoyed a lot of power. Under the British, they lost all their authority Mundas. He wa and became mere agents of the British. They the oppression c had to appease their British masters as well zamindars and th as control their own people. They also had to to forcefully take follow the laws made by the British and pay had taken away them tributes. This infuriated the tribals.
