There was a huge commotion in the annex once news of the invasion was heard. The liberation that been so talked about was finally happening. It filled them with fresh courage and made them feel strong again. There was an awareness that in order to be brave, one had to endure many fears, hardships and possibly more suffering to come. However, they realized that it was now a matter of remaining calm and steadfast, gritting their teeth and keeping a stiff upper lip about it as the British do.
