In the lesson 'How Teachers Learn' by John Caldwill Holt, the teacher observes Nora's reading, silently. He was quiet, but very observant. He stopped her, only when she seemed to be stuck. He made her guess the word, instead of actually telling it. Even then, if Nora was not able to spell the word, the teacher asked her to skip the word and continue reading.

The teacher just sat still and silent most of the times only when Nora seemed badly stuck ,he said anything .Even then he didn't tell her the word,only suggested how she might figure out on her own.If she still could not get the word, he told her to skip itand move ahead. So that it would be easier to figure it out on the next page
