How did the US invade/defeat Germany in WW2?

The united states joined the second world war on Dec 8 194,and after occupying Japan it occupied Germany and then captured all the nazis and put them in the Nuremburg Trial.Later only eleven were sentenced to death.And many were imprisoned for life time.

US, Britain ,Russia and japan were one party and Germany is a single party.US occupied Japan in 1945 by dropping atom bombs in HIroshima and Nagasaki .Therefore Japan surrendered themselves to Us.With the help of these other countries US could invade/defeat the Germany in WWII
