With the emergence of iron age, people had started using iron metal more for crafting tools and other weapons. The use of iron for making weapons and tools was practiced even in prehistoric times.

• One of the major reasons for people shifting to using iron was scarcity of bronze and other alloy metals in 18th and 17th century BC.

• Weapon industry had suffered a deep impact of this scarcity and so iron was the only option left during this time for making weapons.

• Another major reason was that iron was an ore that was easily available from the earths crust as compared to other metals.

• Iron was also having a high melting and boiling point and could easily be drawn in to a weapon by hammering after being heated.
