how did the victory of Rajendra chola Navy in south east asia affect chola oversea trade
Answers
Rajendra Chola I of Chola dynasty is one of the greatest rulers and military generals in the Indian history. He succeeded his father and reigned between 1014 - 1044AD. During his reign, he extended the influence of the Chola empire to the banks of Ganga and to Thailand and Indonesia in the south east across the Indian ocean. This makes the Chola empire as one of the important empires in India. Apart from conquering Chera, Pandya, Chalukya and Rashtrakuta kingdoms in the peninsular India, Rajendra’s conquests included the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Srilanka, Maldives, Malaysia, Southern Burma, Southern Thailand and Indonesia.
It is reasonable to question that a general who is capable of building a very strong navy and conquering the far south east nations across the mighty Indian ocean could have invaded the Indo-Gangetic plains.
There might have been several reasons for that made Rajendra Chola not to invade the heart of India (i.e. the main Indo-Gangetic Plain between Thar desert and Chota Nagpur Plateau).
